Most smokers would like to be free of cigarettes and the cravings attached to this habit. Some people say they take pleasure in smoking and the assumed benefits they associate with it - ie it relaxes me; it's part and parcel of enjoying a drink; it helps me to concentrate.

These, however, are learnt associations. We weren't born with them but when we first started smoking we learned to make these connections. Yet they are only as real as we have made them in our mind. If they truly were an inherent 'given' then all non-smokers would feel they were leading a diminished life, because their enjoyment would be less than that of a smoker. Since non-smokers do NOT feel this way, we can appreciate that smokers have learnt false associations. Therefore because they are false, they can be discarded and we can return to the true associations we all had back when we were non-smokers.

As an ex-smoker, I can verify this fact and feel no loss of pleasure over the past 26 years as a non-smoker. In fact quite the opposite, I now experience more enjoyment being free from the slavery and illogical thinking I previously had.

Becoming a non-smoker is easier than you can imagine. In fact the term giving-up is totally unhelpful as it suggests you are foregoing a benefit. Your outlook when becoming a non-smoker is vitally important. You are not giving up anything. You are gaining everything! Health, vitality, money, freedom, the more likely ability to spend increased years with your family and so much more besides.

My 1:1 Smoking Cessation Course is usually done in one session. It involves learning how to create the appropriate mindset, motivation techniques, lifestyle suggestions and the power of hypnotherapy. Success rates are good. Why not join the hundreds of people who have previously come along and are now enjoying life as a non-smoker.

*Guarantee - The hardest part of stopping smoking is the first month. If you can remain a non-smoker for 28 days, you have tamed your cravings. I am so confident in my ability to support you in keeping away from tobacco, that should you start again within a month, then simply return to me within 28 days of first coming to see me and I will offer you free booster sessions until you have learnt to maintain your non-smoking status for a full month.

Weight Control
There are many reasons behind why people put on too much weight but one thing is certain. We put on weight because we consume more calories than we use - FACT!

So losing weight is easy! We merely have to expend more energy than we absorb. Therefore there is no reason to get outside help in this matter as the solution is so straightforward and so accessible. All we need to do is get on and do it!

If only it were so simple and so easy!!

Sure, we will lose weight if we eat less and exercise more, but why can't people simply get on with it and achieve it? Well of course there are many other subtleties associated with eating and weight control.

Some people do have a slower metabolic rate than others and will not burn off the calories so quickly. This can be frustrating and seem unfair when family, friends and colleagues eat the same amount and are not adversely affected. It may even lead to negativity or anxiety, which can be compensated by comfort eating, thus adding to the problem.

Also most of us find our metabolism slows as we get older. We feel we eat the same as we did in our younger years but now the weight increases. Additionally we are generally less active than in the first flush of youth, so once again less calories expended.

One of the first things we need to do is to accept the working rate of our bodies and the amount of food we individually need to achieve our target weight. It's no use moaning it's unfair that others can get away with it and giving way to the problem by eating the same or even more. Nothing will change and we may even make the situation worse.

Of course there are also those who have long term emotional concerns and use food as a means of covering up these concerns or avoiding them. Certian issues are obvious and we may know what they are and why we eat as a substitute. Other problems may be far more subtle and deep rooted with people being less aware of the full aspects of the eating patterns used as a form of compensation. Whatever the nature of the concern, it will need to be tackled first before weight issues can be addressed.

Weight control is about taking responsibility for ourself and our emotions while eating and exercising accordingly. There are no short cuts. No faddy diets that work properly. If a particular diet really did work then surely everyone would follow it, as it would truly achieve its claims. But alas this is not so. Therefore forget diets and concentrate on sensible eating habits and exercise. Sensible eating does not mean spartan denial. Eating is always allowed to be enjoyable and social as long as we adhere to the appropriate quantity and consume healthy foods in general.

The 1:1 Weight Control Course is about learning how to adopt the right attitude. Various therapeutic interventions are used to support this along with the power and drive of hypnotherapy to underline the new outlooks and intentions. In addition, any associated problematic concerns will need to be covered and resolved at the outset. The course starts with a few weekly sessions to deal with any relevant issues, adopt a sensible plan and create the right mindset. Once underway, occasional visits are made to boost drive and maintain momentum.

How can I become a non-smoker or control my weight?
We all know how hard it can be to take that first step on the road to self-improvement. Yet invariably it is the thought of the efffort of change that is harder than change itself. In fact how often do we say after finally taking the leap, "Why didn't I do that sooner?" It goes to show that our mind creates barriers to moving forward, not so much because it is difficult but because we fear the unknown, even if it transpires to be a better place!

So if you find yourself standing hestitantly at the brink of moving away from your past, ask yourself this. Change might seem daunting and an effort, but how much more of an effort and daunting will it be to spend yet another year locked within your problem, or perhaps even several years?

The solution is within your grasp. Take the leap towards resolution and contact me to move forward. I'm here to support and work with you every step of the way.
